Sites of Inflammation

Drawing - Felt tip & ink on acid-free paper
100 x 188cm (unframed)
Sites of Inflammation, (2019) places the uncensored histories of the female body in trauma centre stage in this large-scale landscape drawing. These cavernous, sharp-edged women despite their individual isolation are gathering – a communal reckoning gains traction with a visceral expulsion of potent vapours, fluids and thunderous sounds heavy with anguish screaming into the atmosphere – their cries insistent on the reclamation of their identity and sexuality. Their collective force demands visibility – they will no longer cede their space.
