Saunatorium (2018), provided an open invitation to Import Project's visitors to detoxify inside a ready-made sauna-steam tent with use of a constructed changing room in the gallery. Offering a playful opportunity for visitors to engage with the ritual of self-care, whilst raising questions about one's sense of self in the process, Lawley's practice has continued to place health and social contexts at the centre of her work.
In February 2018, Lawley explored the notion of winter depression through her artist in residence in Iceland. Specifically focussing on the lack of psychological and physical security within our culture, and the impact of our environment on our well being, Lawley used Saunatorium as a starting point to continue to develop works concerning the notion of an architecture as an alternative healing modality.
